Get startedWelcome to this online training on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy provided by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on STI Policy (ARTNET on STI) and the Department of Research and Innovation (DRI), Ministry of Education of Myanmar.
This training is divided into four training units. You will discover key notions about what is innovation and you will be guided through the process of formulating a science, technology and innovation policy to support sustainable and inclusive development.
- Unit 1: Explains the concept of innovation and national innovation systems and the role of different actors in the innovation process. It also highlights the importance of STI policy for supporting national inclusive and sustainable development.
- Unit 2: Introduces the key elements for formulating a STI policy. It also discusses the importance of designing a STI policy that takes into consideration the needs of marginalized groups.
- Unit 3: Explores policy instruments for promoting STI research.
- Unit 4: Discusses policy instruments for promoting innovation and for strengthening academia-industry collaboration in Myanmar.

The videos and documents featured in this online training were prepared or collected during the process of co-creating Myanmar’s National STI Policy. To support the co-creation of the national STI policy, a series of online events including training webinars, facilitated discussions and consultations – were organised between July and November 2020.
